About Us

At Preferred ChildCare, our Core Values are more than just words, they’re how we live. We strive to be a company with a strong culture and a higher purpose. As we continue to grow, we work to ensure that this culture is upheld.

A ChildCare Specialist is someone who does more than caregiving.

For our Specialists, children are a passion and way of life. Our team is diverse and has different backgrounds; however, one common thread is their love for children and a desire to make a difference in the lives of those around them.

Our ChildCare Specialists are experienced, trained, screened, and trusted. We use motivational interviewing techniques, situational questions, and meet our team in person to learn as much as we can about them.

Our process is so thorough that only 5% of applicants are offered a position working with us.

OUR CORE VALUES

Our story

Nanny Agency Owner On Phone

Caring for children has always been a part of my life.

I started watching children at the age of 11 as a mother’s helper. I eventually became babysitter, part-time nanny, household manager, and music teacher. I built strong relationships with each of the families I cared for and loved every moment of caring for their children.

When I started college, I quickly realized that I would not be able to keep up with my new school and work demands. I felt a deep responsibility to ensure “my” families had quality care. So, my solution was to run up and down the halls of my dorm yelling, “Does anyone babysit? Does anyone like kids?” Not only did I make quite a few new friends that way, but I also created the foundation for a future business. When I was unavailable for a babysitting job, I would send one of my newfound friends. Although I always encouraged the family to call me first, being able to send someone who I trusted to help the family was an amazing second option.

By my senior year, I was connecting 25-30 babysitters with my families. One of my clients suggested I create a business to help even more local families find caregivers. I remember saying out loud to him, “Someone would pay me to find them a babysitter?” And so, Preferred ChildCare (PCC) was born and has become so much more than babysitting.

Today, my business is more useful than ever. As a widowed mother of four children (ages 14, 11, 8 and 3), I depend on our caregivers, tutors, and pet sitters. I also have an amazing full-time nanny who is practically family. I know first-hand the difference that quality, dependable care can make in a family's life. When my son lights up because his nanny walks through the door, or my girls get excited when their favorite babysitter arrives, it allows me to leave feeling a little bit less guilty. When I come home and the toys are straightened, the kitchen counters are clean, and my kids are playing in the backyard, I feel relieved and at peace.

This business has become more than just a way to help families find babysitters. We have helped create thousands of jobs, we allow working parents to focus on their careers, and we help parents feel relief that things are great at home so they can be the parent they want to be. We help positively impact lives and give back to our community through our partnership with Backpack Beginnings. PCC has become my entire life's work, and I am incredibly proud and thankful to have been given this incredible opportunity.

We are excited you found us and hope you will become a part of PCC. We would love for you to be a part of the story that inspires us every day!

I started working with Preferred Childcare 2 years ago after my second child was born. We also had a two-year-old and a newborn with colic. I was sleep-deprived and started asking friends if they knew of a night nanny who could help a couple nights a week so I could sleep. This was not easy to find in Greensboro, so a friend suggested I call Preferred. They were my answer during such a difficult time! At three months, my daughter was much better and we no longer needed night help but continued to use Preferred for their babysitters. My children love the girls they send! It is such a great feeling to know that when something comes up and we need a sitter, all I have to do is call or email and know they will send someone we like and trust. I don't know what I would do without Preferred! A wonderful company and truly caring staff!!

This is one of the best nanny agencies I have ever encountered. The entire staff is knowledgeable, professional, and the owner is an incredibly kind woman (a mom of four herself so she gets it!) and she operates with integrity. I would highly recommend Preferred Childcare to anyone looking for a high quality nanny or sitter. Look no further, seriously. This place is the best.

We have been clients of Preferred Childcare for over three years now and have never had anything less than a 5 star experience. In fact, their services and sitters exceed our expectations time and again! They have been lifesavers in a pinch for us several times and their process for booking is so outstanding that once even when we submitted our dates wrong (our mistake!), their multiple email confirmations back to us showed us our error so we could correct and not end up with a sitter on the wrong date! As a mom, I am so grateful for this service and our current part-time nanny from PCC is like another family member to us. As a business owner myself, I am consistently impressed by their professionalism and processes. I recommend PCC to all of my friends and clients!

I have been with Preferred for over 5 years and I LOVE them. I now have 3 kids and I couldn't have done it without Preferred. Their sitters are awesome. Some of them really go the extra mile! I recommend everyone to this service for peace of mind. I tried care.com and have horror stories 😑. My kids are my life and so it's important to me that I trust the company that they will send me vetted sitters... and this is it! The price is decent. Sitters are always on time and always reliable!! Thank you tons Preferred! You are like my other family 😆!

Preferred has been a great resource for our family. Their sitters are always on time, usually a few minutes early, engaging with our boys and clean up well. Preferred Childcare is great with communication and send emails with the resume and photo of the sitter we are having, as well as confirmation of the time they are coming. Last time we came home early the boys asked us to leave so the sitter could stay longer! We highly recommend them to anyone and are so glad we found them!
